The Selangor state government has agreed to provide free meals to 5,931 workers in hospitals in the state with an allocation of RM1.344 million, said Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

This is an addition to the one-off payment of RM200 to each of them.

In announcing the Selangor Prihatin Economic Stimulus Package 2.0 today, the Sungai Tua state assemblyman said the provision of meals would be done throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

He said it was Selangor's token of appreciation for the contribution of the frontline medical personnel comprising doctors, nurses and staff in hospitals in the state.

In addition, he said, the Selangor government has also agreed to provide an additional allocation of RM1.5 million through the Frontliners Child Care Incentive to 2,500 families involved.

He added the frontline personnel of the media and the press who were working hard to convey facts and information to the people were not forgotten.

"In honour of the media and security personnel, RM100,000 will be spent in providing them free meals too," Amirudin said.
