The Ministry of Health (MOH) has identified two related COVID-19 sub-clusters in Kuantan as a result of concentrated activity conducted through detection, screening and testing of high-risk target groups.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the Bali cluster of people under investigation (PUI) in Kuantan was a cluster involving patients and several healthcare personnel from a medical centre in Kuantan.

He said to date, 20 people have been identified in the cluster, of whom 14 were being treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA), Pahang; two people have recovered; three were treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) while one died in the 1,575th case.

"The index case, which is the 4,684 case for this cluster, has a history of travel to Bali, Indonesia.

"He then had close contact with Case 1,575, a brother of the index case. Case 1,575 subsequently infected seven second-generation cases and 11 third-generation cases.

"A total of 339 close contacts have been identified and a COVID-19 screening test has been conducted, including on 202 health personnel," he said at a COVID-19 daily press conference here on Monday.

In fact, Dr Noor Hisham said, of the total, there were three healthcare personnel involved in this cluster.
