Malaysia again recorded zero local transmission of COVID-19 today, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said only three new cases were reported today, all imported ones involving Malaysians who were infected overseas.

"This brings the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 8,677. The number of active cases with infectivity stands at 70, and they have been isolated for treatment.

"Two positive cases of COVID-19 are still being treated in the intensive care unit, one of which requires ventilator support," he said at a COVID-19 press conference here today.

On July 1, Malaysia hit new milestones with one new case and zero local transmission of COVID-19, the lowest daily figures since March 18.

Dr Noor Hisham said no fatalities were reported today, keeping the death toll at 121, or 1.39 per cent of the total number of cases.

Five cases had also recovered and were discharged today, bringing the cumulative figure for recoveries to 8,486, he added.
