Malaysia recorded the lowest new daily positive cases so far with only 16 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

According to Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, of these three were import cases while 13 were domestic cases.

In addition, he said COVID-19 recovery cases also showed positive growth as 110 cases were allowed to be discharged from hospital today, bringing the total to 5,223 or 77.5 per cent of the total cases.

“This is the lowest daily case recorded in recent times. This makes the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Malaysia a total of 6,742 cases.

"In addition, the total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 1,410 cases," he told a daily press conference here on Tuesday.

Dr Noor Hisham said 16 cases of positive COVID-19 were being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU) with three cases needing respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, he said there was no increase in death on Tuesday, with death rates remaining at 109 cases or 1.62 per cent of the total number of cases.
