Malaysia has recorded another COVID-19-related fatality, bringing the death toll in the country to 17.

According to the Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the 66-year-old local with a history of several chronic illness, was from Case 1,251.

“He started showing symptoms a week before being admitted to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital, Muar on March 20, 2020.

“He was in critical condition when he arrived at the Emergency Department and needed respiratory support on the same day. He was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on March 21, 2020,” he said on Facebook.

Commenting further, Dr Noor Hisham said his health subsequently deteriorated and passed away on March 25, 2020 at 4.10am.

“The cause of his COVID-19 infection is still under investigation,” he added.

Malaysia recorded 106 COVID-19 positive cases as of Tuesday, 12 noon bringing the cumulative number to 1,624 cases.
