The total number of new COVID-19 cases reported today surpassed the recovered cases.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 60 new cases were reported today, bringing the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Malaysia to 7,245 and the number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity being 1,185.

"Please be advised of the 60 new cases reported, 7 cases are imported cases of overseas infections.

"Of the 53 local transmission cases, 44 were non-Malaysian nationals, with 27 non-Malaysian cases being detected at the Immigration Detention Depot (DTI) in Semenyih and six cases at a new cluster at DTI Sepang," he said in a statement issued on Sunday.

He said 33 cases have recovered and discharged today, bringing the total number of cases fully recovered from COVID-19 to 319 cases (82.1 per cent of total cases).

From the latest information reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), no COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded.

"Thus, the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia remains at 115 cases (1.60 per cent of the total cases)," he added.

To date, nine COVID-19 positive cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Of these, four cases required respiratory assistance.
