Another 53 COVID-19 cases have recovered and discharged today, bringing the total number of recovery cases in the country to 5,912 or 82.3 per cent of the total cases.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 48 new cases detected as of noon today.

The latest cases showed a decline compared to the new cases recorded on Friday.

“Therefore, the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Malaysia is 7,185 cases and the number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 1,158 cases.

“Please note that of the 48 new cases reported, four cases were imported cases of overseas infections.

"Of the 44 cases of local transmission, 25 were non-Malaysian citizens, of which 21 were detected at the Immigration Detention Depot (DTI) in Semenyih," he said at a press conference here today.

He said to date nine COVID-19 positive cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Of these, five cases require respiratory assistance.

In another development, Dr Noor Hisham said no new deaths had been reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Emergency Response Center (CPRC) today.

"Thus, the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia remains at 115 cases (1.61 per cent of the total case)," he added.
