A total of 36 new positive cases were reported in the Pedas Cluster, Negeri Sembilan on Wednesday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 positive cases to 256.

Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cluster case involved 14 cases among Malaysians and 242 non-citizens.

"It involves 136 Nepalese, 55 Bangladeshis, 26 Myanmar nationals, 21 Indonesian nationals, 3 Indian nationals and one Vietnamese case," he said at a daily press conference here on Wednesday.

The new positive cases were detected as a result of repeat screening during their time at the quarantine centre.

"They are still segregated in the quarantine centre, so they do not pose a risk to the community," he said.

To date, COVID-19 positive cases at four Immigration Detention Depot (DTI) in Sepang, Bukit Jalil, Semenyih and Putrajaya has recorded a total of 466 cases out of 4,908 samples taken.

Meanwhile, 1,175 cases were pending results and 3,267 were negative COVID-19.
