COVID-19 positive new cases in the country are back to two digits as 30 new cases were detected as of noon today.

Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said it had brought the total number of cumulative cases to 7,762 cases.

Meanwhile, 95 cases have recovered and allowed to be discharged today, bringing the total to 6,330 cases or 81.55 per cent of the total cases.

"Therefore, the total number of active cases with COVID-19 infectivity is 1,317 cases. They have been isolated and treated.

"Please also be informed that of the 30 new cases reported, three are of imported cases of overseas infection.

"Of the 27 local transmission cases, 17 are non-Malaysian cases while the local transmission among Malaysian nationals are just 10 cases," he said at a daily press conference here today.

According to Dr Noor Hisham, nine cases of COVID-19 were being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), of which two were in need of respiratory assistance.

He said the Ministry of Health (MOH) also reported that no new COVID-19 death cases were recorded in the country today.

It also saw for seven consecutive days, Malaysia did not record any deaths related to the pandemic.

"Thus, the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia remains at 115 cases (1.48 per cent of the total cases)," he said.
