Tomorrow, the Court of Appeal will hear Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's bid to stay the proceedings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) which is scheduled to begin on Monday.

The former prime minister's counsel, Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla told reporters the hearing of the stay application would be heard by way of interparte.

A notice of motion seeking a stay of the RCI proceeding was filed at the appellate court registry this afternoon.

Mohamed Haniff said they wanted the RCI proceedings to be stayed, pending hearing of Dr Mahathir's appeal against the Kuala Lumpur High Court's dismissal of his (Dr Mahathir's ) leave to commence a judicial review.

He said he has informed the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) of the hearing date and hard copies of the documents were also served to the AGC.
