Two company directors pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM3.831 million.

Yong Meu Fah, 58, and Chui Pui An, 56, were accused of committing the offences at Maybank's Karamunsing branch here between March 2, 2009 and Sept 1, 2009.

They were alleged to have committed CBT involving nine cheques worth RM2,156,000, six cheques worth RM1,125,000, and two cheques worth RM550,000.

They were charged under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment of two to 20 years with whipping, and shall be liable to a fine if convicted.

Judge Ainul Shahrin Mohamad set bail at RM150,000 in one surety for each of the accused and impounded their passports, while Sept 28 was fixed for re-mention of the case.

Deputy public prosecutor Akmazatul Mohamed Nawi prosecuted, while Timothy Daut and Vivian Chew represented both the accused.
