A chief executive officer (CEO) of a oil and gas company here was robbed of more than RM300,000, including in cash and jewellery, when a group of men, armed with machetes, broke into his residence at Taman Tun Abdul Razak, Ampang, on Wednesday.

Selangor police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said the robbery occurred about 5 am when the CEO, with a "Datuk" title, and seven members of his family were sleeping.

He said the suspects, believed to have entered the house through a back window, then woke up the CEO and other family members before ordering them into a room and tied their hands.

The robbers, believed to be foreigners, then ransacked the house and fled with cash, watches, handphones, jewellery and cash, he added.

Police do not rule out the possibility of members of the Rantau Gang responsible for the robbery.
