KUALA LUMPUR:The International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) has agreed to allow a maximum of 10 percent of managers and supervisors covering tasks involving accounting, finance, administration, law, planning and ICT to be in office starting tomorrow.

However, they will only be allowed to work on site for four hours, from 10am to 2pm, three days a week, according to a statement by Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"Working hours in the office are limited to four hours from 10am to 2pm for three days a week.

"Companies do not need to submit applications for this purpose, employers only need to issue a travel release letter for each employee who is allowed to work during the Conditional Movement Control Command (CMCO) period.

"Employers need to set appropriate Work From Home (WFH) guidelines according to the needs of their respective companies,” he said in the statement.

On Tuesday, the National Security Council (NSC) directed all public and private sector employees at the management and administrative levels in the CMCO area to WFH from starting October 22.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, the implementation of this directive is effective until CMCO in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan, Selangor and Sabah ends.

Based on MITI’s Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) database, the number of workers in manufacturing, services and construction sectors in Sabah, Labuan, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya amounts to 3.1 million people.

Of the above number of employees, based on feedback received from industries, a total of 776,135 or 25 percent of employees in the managerial and supervisory levels. This group is required to WFH starting 22 October in line with the NSC’s decision.
