Residents, including those staying at shophouses who do not have special parking facilities in the federal capital, are advised to purchase Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)'s monthly parking passes to prevent their vehicles from being compounded for exceeding the parking time.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said DBKL issued the monthly parking pass as an option for the daily parking fee according to the number of hours.

"The monthly pass can prevent vehicle owners from being compounded for the offence of not paying for the parking according to the hourly period as often happens," he told reporters after officiating the new Rica Residence Sentul residential project here, today.

He said this when asked to comment on residents' complaints about their vehicles being often compounded by DBKL although parked in residential areas around the federal capital.

DBKL has a monthly pass payment system for those parking in the federal capital at a rate of RM 300 per month for city centre areas and RM150 per month for areas outside the city centre with a high level of activities and for outside the city centre.

For a special parking parcel in downtown areas RM400 per month is imposed, RM240 for areas outside the city centre with a high level of activities and RM200 in areas outside the city centre.

Earlier, when opening the Rica Residence Sentul project, Tengku Adnan said the project was developed by Fajarbaru Builder Group Berhad (Fajarbaru) comprising the construction of a 39-storey building with 473 residential units.

The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021 and will be the choice of city residents because of its strategic location in addition to having access to the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT 2) Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line in the future.

"Until now, 70 per cent of the units have been sold at an initial price of RM600 per square feet (55.74 square metres) for residential units of between 657 square feet (61.03 sq metres) to 1,238 square feet (115 square metres)," he said.
