Kinabatangan MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Tuesday urged the police to take action against the organisers of Bersih and opposition members who are encouraging illegal rallies and blatantly flouting laws.

He said it appeared as though the police were "very soft" on Bersih.

"I urge the Inspector-General of Police to go through the video recordings from the very beginning until now, see the laws being broken and also the police reports lodged.., action must be taken, arrest them, charge them in court," he said when debating the Supply Bill 2017 in the Dewan Rakyat.

He said the Bersih gatherings also saw uncivilised and rude behavior by the participants like insulting pictures of leaders.

Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah (BN-Lenggong) stood up to support Bung Moktar saying Bersih should not be allowed to continue with their gatherings as they did not practise what they preached.

Bersih, an electoral reform movement, has been going on a roadshow around the country to drum up support for a planned mammoth gathering in the federal capital next month. -- BERNAMA
