The body of a man reported missing following the capsize of a boat in Penang waters Friday evening, was found offshore in Persiaran Gurney this morning.

Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Penang deputy director Commander Azman Samsudin said the body of Rosmin Selamat, 62, was found by the public around 8am, after going missing for 35 hours.

The 62-year-old’s body was sent to the Penang Hospital and the case is currently being handled by the police for further action.

Following the finding, the search and rescue operation which also involved the Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defence Department and the public has been called off.

In the 7pm tragedy on Friday, the boat that Rosmin and six other quarry workers from Pulau Jerejak were in, capsized in Pantai Bagan Jermal due to strong waves.

The other six victims were managed to be rescued except for Rosmin, who could not be found and believed to have been carried away by the strong waves.
