The body of a Korean man was found floating in Pulau Memutik, Sabah after an outing with his family members there.

Kota Kinabalu acting police chief Supt George Abd Rakman said the body of the man was found by a diving company staff at about 3.30pm, Wednesday.

The victim identified as Shim Jae Sun, aged 48, from Korea, came to Sabah for a holiday, George said in a statement.

George said police investigation revealed that the victim had gone diving at about 1pm and had left Marina Tanjung Aru jetty with his family members.

"The company staff who saw the body floating at about 3.30pm then took him to Taman-Taman Sabah and then to Kota Kinabalu marine port.

"Once there, the ambulance arrived and confirmed that the victim had died, believed to have been drowned. But the death is still being investigated and the body had been sent to Queen Elizabeth 1 Hospital for post-mortem," George said.

Police have classified the case as sudden death.
