A Bangladesh male national was found drowned after he bathed in the Chamang Waterfalls, Bentong today.

Director of the Pahang Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) Zainal Yusoff said an officer and 11 APM staff rushed to the location immediately after receiving a call at 3.45pm that the victim was missing.

"According to the initial reports, the victim who was in his 40s, was reported to have gone with several relatives to the waterfalls to bathe.

"Suddenly, the water level rose drastically, causing him to be drowned due to the strong current," he said when contacted here today.

He added that the rescue team later found the victim faced down with his foot trapped between the rocks in the waterfalls.

The remains of the victim Monir Hossain Jalal Uddin was later handed over to the police and taken to the Bentong Hospital for a post-mortem. - BERNAMA
