Police have detained a security guard in connection with the finding of the body of a newborn baby in the compound of a surau at Precinct 9 here last Wednesday.

Putrajaya police chief ACP Rosly Hassan said the 21-year-old man was arrested at 1.50 am today in Precinct 3.

A white Myvi car, believed to have been used to bring the body to the surau, was seized, he said when contacted.

The body of the newborn baby girl was found in a bag on a shoe rack at Surau Abu Bakar As-Siddiq in Precinct 9 at about 8.30 pm last Wednesday.

The bag also contained a note, which was hand written, requesting the congregation at the surau to carry out the necessary funeral rites on the baby.

Rosly said a post mortem report on the baby found that she died of stillbirth. -- BERNAMA
