Fourty family members from seven homes affected by the landslide at Taman Kelab Ukay near here have been ordered to leave their homes within 48 hours.

All of them will be housed for two nights at the Hotel De Palma before they could find temporary homes for six months.

Minister of Housing and Local Government, Zuraida Kamaruddin, said the cost of staying at the hotel and the six-month rent for the seven families will be fully borne by her and Senior Minister (International Trade and Industry), Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"They have to leave this area within 48 hours and move to the Hotel De Palma for two nights while contemplating of finding a temporary (six-month) residence.

" Insya-Allah, I and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin will cover the cost of rental for the six months, so this is the initial preparation for the affected people," she said, adding that the estimated rent for a family is RM3,000 a month.

Zuraida said her ministry estimated the initial cost of repairing the affected land was RM2 million and slope repair work would take six months.

"The initial cost estimate is RM2 million and will take six months.

"This (allocation) I can approve immediately to enable MPAJ (Ampang Jaya Municipal Council) to take immediate action," she added.
