Police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) today raided an office of Al Jazeera, as part of their investigations into a documentary aired by the international television channel early last month.

Without disclosing the location of the office, Bukit Aman CID deputy director (Investigation/Legal) DCP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the raid was conducted at about 11.30 am.

"Yes, a team from USJT (Bukit Aman Classified Crime Investigation) and an MCMC team raided the place as part of continuing investigations of the case," he told Bernama.

Al Jazeera had aired the 25 min and 50 sec-long documentary entitled "Locked Up in Malaysia's Lockdown", which criticised Malaysia's handling of illegal immigrants when implementing measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
