The article on the freezing of the credit of the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor by international authorities is purely slanderous and fraudulent, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

He said the news report, which was spread in the social website and Whatsapp application was only aimed a tarnishing the image of Rosmah and the prime minister's family.

He said the article was actually sourced from an international portal written in July 2016.

"It's clear that the manipulation by the portal is purely slanderous because after almost one year there has been no action to freeze Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's credit," he told Bernama today.

He said this when asked to comment on the false news in the social website and Whatsapp application.

Meanwhile, Salleh reminded portal owners and members of the public that writing or spreading false information was an offence under the Malaysian law and offenders could be prosecuted.
