The arrest of a former PetroSaudi International IT executive for alleged blackmail and extortion would not jeopardise the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) probe on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said, this was because the bi-partisan committee was only investigating how the strategic development company was being managed as a whole.

“Any wrongdoing would only be part of the management scope.

“PAC’s main job is to analyse information and get witnesses to verify the authenticity of those information,” he said in a message to Astro AWANI today.

He said, the structure for PAC’s initial probe has been set and will be continued until they gather enough information for an interim report to be published.

Meanwhile, in a statement today, 1MDB had said that the emails purportedly leaked by the ex-PetroSaudi staff had been tampered with.

The Swiss national, Xavier Justo, was arrested by Thai police from his residence Koh Samui, Thailand.

He is believed to have leaked information to the London-based Sarawak Report website for several reports about 1MDB.
