Applicants can check whether their Special Prihatin Grant (GKP) application has been approved or not through the official portal of the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) at http://gkp.hasil.gov/my beginning tomorrow.

IRB said in a statement that it received 642,976 applications for the GKP from May 1 to 15 and, of the total, 488,857 or 76 per cent had been approved.

"The remaining 81,260 (12.6 per cent) applications are still being reviewed by the agencies while 72,859 (11.3 per cent) have been rejected.

IRB said payments to successful applicants are expected to be directly credited to their bank accounts beginning June 15.

For applications under review, IRB said the decision would be announced beginning June 8 and payment would be made in stages from June 15.-- MORE

According to the Board, the government has agreed to allow those whose GKP applications were rejected to make an appeal from June 3 to 15 through IRB's official portal to ensure all eligible parties received the grant.

"Each appeal will be processed carefully and the decision will be announced from June 22, while payments will be made from June 29," IRB said.

The GKP is an initiative to assist micro small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with their cash flow following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (CMO) to curb the spread of COVID-19.
