The UMNO Information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa has urged the government to recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) in order to prevent local talent from leaving the country.

"There is no reason to not recognise it. It does not violate the constitution, so why not?" said Annuar.

He added that the government cannot “victimise” thousands of UEC students because of issues such as the usage of Bahasa Melayu and other subjects such as history.

“If there are claims that UEC is not in line with the National Education Policy, then show me, which part is it?

"Therefore, we must sit down and discuss with relevant parties," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
