Former Wanita UMNO member, Anina Saadudin today filed a lawsuit against the party’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor for her sacking after she took Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to court over the RM2.6 billion donation.

Her lawyer, Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdullah confirmed the suit which also named UMNO executive secretary Datuk Ab Rauf Yusoh.

“The suit was filed against Tengku Adnan as he had signed off on the purported membership termination letters and Abdul Rauf who allegedly said last week that Anina was automatically sacked from UMNO for breaching party regulation that prohibits bringing internal issues to the court,” he was quoted as saying by The Malay Mail Online.

In the writ of summons filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, Anina wants to get the courts to nullify the two purported termination letters issued by Tengku Adnan.

“It’s basically a suit to get the necessary declarations to nullify the purported termination of her membership in UMNO by Tengku Adnan through the letters of September 1 and September 2,” Mohamed Haniff said.

Anina filed the suit at around 12.25pm.

In her statement of claim today, Anina claimed that Tengku Adnan had issued two letters to terminate her membership, with one dated September 2 issued on September 1, and another dated September 1 issued on September 2.

She claimed, the issuing of both letters to the media and to the public before it was personally delivered to her, apart from the allegedly unclear and contradictory content of both letters, made them “defective and invalid”.

“The issuing of the letters are against Articles 5, 8, 10(1)(a) and 10(1)(c) of the Federal Constitution,” Anina said.

Anina had been thrown into the spotlight following the widespread circulation of a 2.52-minute video clip last month in which she claimed that Najib had lied to the three million UMNO members regarding the RM2.6 billion deposited in the Prime Minister’s personal bank accounts.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had previously said the funds were campaign donations.

On August 28, Anina filed a lawsuit, which she said was done on behalf of UMNO, against Najib at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, which led to her sacking from the party as her actions allegedly violated Clause 20.7 of the UMNO Constitution.

Anina had previously given Tengku Adnan three days to retract her sacking but he failed to do so within the stipulated time.
