The Attorney-General's Chambers will be appealing the acquittal of Azilah Hadri and Sirul Azhar over the murder of Altantuya Shaaribuu.

According to a statement by the AG‘s chambers, DSP Musa Safri's testimony had no relevance at all as a whole narrative of the prosecution’s case already unfolded in the trial.

Therefore, the non-calling of DSP Musa was not enough to set aside of the conviction and sentence. The statement said the non-direction by the trial judge on issues raised by the appellants in his judgment amounted to misdirection.

The AG's Chambers is dissatisfied with the decision as a non direction or misdirection by the trial court, is not the fault of the the prosecution.

Both appellants were convicted and sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court in Shah Alam on April 9, 2009 for the murder of Altantunya between October 19 and 20 , 2006.

Their appeals were allowed by the Court of Appeal in August 23, 2013, where the conviction and sentence were set aside, the statement said.
