An almost decomposed body of a man was found in a unit of the Taman Desa Permai Indah flats, Sungai Dua, on Monday.

North-east Police District chief, ACP Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said police received information on the discovery of the body at about 6pm after being informed by a man who smelled the stench from the unit.

"A police team sent to the unit on the fourth floor of the flat found the body of the man dressed in short pants and a t-shirt in the living room of the house," he told reporters at the scene, here tonight.

It is learnt that body was found with the hands bound at the back with a raffia string and there was a choking mark on the throat.

He said based on initial inspection, police believed the unidentified man, in his 30's, had died more than a week ago based on the condition of the body.
