AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has officially closed his Twitter account last Friday and this move came as a surprise to a host of Netizens who have closely followed his real-time updates -- to focus on other social networking sites such as Instagram and blogs.

Fernandes who used Twitter handle @tonyfernandes bids adieu to Twitter has inevitably elicited various reactions from most of his followers.

The owner of English Premier League Queens Park Rangers who was named "Aviation Industry Leader ' at the 2014 Aviation Awards in January is synonymous for engaging his followers with his uncanny traits on the social media. Fernandes who could be well, both hilarious and 'catty' in his comments was also popular among football fans on Twitter.

But according to a source who has requested anonimity, Fernandes is seeking new ways to reach out to his followers. Word has it, plans to give his official blog a 'makeover' of sorts is in the pipeline.

"Fernandes said that Instagram is one medium that give more positive visual impact," said a source.

Fernandes, closed his Twitter account on Friday.

Many on Twitter have expressed their disappointment over his move to close the Twitter account.







"I will be closing down my Twitter account today. As I said wait till QPR get promoted and I reach 50. I may restart dedicated accounts "he said, referring to football team QPR.

On Instagram, Fernandes uses @tonyfernandes _official for Instagram and he seems already begun to actively upload pictures daily.
