The air quality in several areas in the country was moderate or good as at 11am today.

According to the Department of Environment's (DoE) website, 26 areas recorded moderate Air Pollution Index (API) readings while 24 other areas including Pulau Langkawi, Penang and Kangar recorded good API readings.

Pasir Gudang and Larkin in the south of the peninsula recorded a moderate API reading of 76, Malacca (74), Muar (71) and Kemaman (70).

In Sabah, the API readings were below 46 while four areas in Sarawak recorded moderate levels, namely Samarahan (60), Sri Aman (59), Kuching (55) and Sarikei (51).

Air quality with API readings of 0-50 is categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (hazardous).
