Activist Fahmi Reza who was arrested by police at the KL Alternative Bookfest (KLAB) at Publika, Kuala Lumpur yesterday, has been released.

Three individuals who were arrested with him, have also been released.

The matter was confirmed by Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy when contacted by Astro AWANI this morning.

According to Munusamy, Fahmi was released at 3am Sunday on police bail after being investigated under Section 41c of the 1948 Sedition Act and Section 11 of the Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA) 1984.

Fahmi also wrote on his Facebook page about his release.

"I have been released from detention, and just reached home. If you think you can scare me and break my spirit, you're wrong," he wrote.

He was arrested on Saturday with three other individuals -- KLAB organiser Pang Khee Teik, activist Lew Pik-Svonn dan comic artist, Arif Rafhan at around 7pm before being brought to the Sentul police headquarters.

It is learnt that they were held for questioning for selling t-shirts carrying seditious messages.

"Five to six police officers came to my booth. They seized my IC, two t-shirts and a banner with a clown face.

"Police told me that I was being investigated under the Sedition Act," said Fahmi on his Facebook yesterday.
