Police on Monday arrested Mohd Ali Baharom, 44, following his statements made in front of Kota Raya Complex here on Friday.

According to Kuala Lumpur criminal investigation chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad, Mohd Ali, also known as Ali Tinju was arrested in front of the Dang Wangi district headquarters here at 7pm, Monday.

“He (Ali) was arrested following a police report lodged against him,” said Zainuddin in a statement sent via WhatsApp.

He added that Ali’s mobile phone has been confiscated during the arrest.

Police will obtain a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code on Tuesday.

Ali is being investigated under Section 4 (1) Sedition Act on dissemination of racially-charged statements.
