Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) will issue offer letters to about 2,000 students for further studies in selected
universities abroad beginning this week.

Its chairman, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the selection of the students was made under the programme Excellent Student Scheme and would involve financing of RM400 million.

In a statement issued here today, he said the selected students included those with excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and also diploma graduates from Mara Learning Institutions (IPMA).

The SPM graduates, he said, would be required to attend preparatory or pre-university courses at selected colleges for one to two years.

"The final selection of students for studies abroad will depend on their performance and success in getting places at world top universities, as well as several other conditions," he added.
