A total of 954 sanitation operations to curb the spread of COVID-19 have been carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) in 81 zones nationwide since March 30.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the public sanitation operations involved 23 Red Zones and 16 Orange Zones.

"Yesterday, a total of 159 sanitation operations were conducted covering 61 zones in 12 states, including 29 in Johor and 30 in Kuala Lumpur.

“Areas disinfected were 686 government buildings and 433 public buildings," he said at a press conference here Thursday.

The KPKT aims to carry out the operations on 38 People's Housing Project (PPR) in the Red Zone and Orange Zone.

"Yesterday, five PPRs were disinfected, raising the total to 30 PPRs involving 31,775 units of homes," he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that as of Wednesday, a total of 143 quarantine centres including 24 hotels had been operational, accomodating 9,720 individuals undergoing compulsory quarantine.

"Yesterday, 229 Malaysians had returned home (from overseas) and underwent compulsory quarantine," he added.
