The compliance rate of the Movement Control Order (MCO) has reached 92 percent on Monday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

However, he added, the importance of practising social distancing by keeping a gap of at least a metre between each other, was mostly unheeded.

Ismail Sabri told a press conference here today that a total of 120,615 vehicles were inspected and the drivers were advised to comply with the Movement Control Order.

"Though only eight per cent, there were still people out there who were outside their homes and failed to comply with the government's ban," he said.

Ismail Sabri, however, expressed disappointment with the people’s apathy towards social distancing.

“When paying their bills, we see that many failed to keep a proper distance of at least one meter

“I am most hopeful that when people come out to buy essential goods, social distancing must be adhered to,” he added.

From today, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will help ensure social distancing is carried out in wet markets and supermarkets.

“We need to have rules for getting into markets and supermarkets, we have to enter in stages.

"This is to ensure social distancing can be carried out,” he said.
