Seventy-five people were compounded while 11 others have been remanded for further investigations for allegedly defying Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) yesterday.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the police had also taken legal action against 53 individuals for being involved in activities which made physical distancing difficult, 30 for failing to provide check-in equipment and records, two for not wearing face masks, and one illegal immigrant.

On Ops Benteng, he said the police have conducted 63 roadblocks nationwide and inspected 28,729 vehicles to curb the entry of illegal immigrants, especially along rat trails, but no arrest was made.

"The government will always take stern action against anyone who tries to enter the country illegally and our enforcement agencies will continue to tighten border control," he said in a statement on the development of RMCO today.

Meanwhile, he said between July 24 and yesterday, a total of 15,174 individuals have returned to Malaysia through the international gates, and were placed at 69 hotels and five Public Training Institutes (ILAs) in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Pulau Pinang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Perlis, Terengganu and Labuan for mandatory quarantine to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Of the total, he said 43 were sent to hospitals for treatment, while 7,469 had been allowed to go home so far.

"They had returned from 32 countries, namely the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America," he said.

Ismail Sabri said the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry officers have also conducted 1,536 special inspections on RMCO standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance and found 1,529 premises abiding by the guidelines.

"Six premises were given advice and one was warned for not obeying the SOP. During this RMCO, everyone is urged to practice self-discipline including observing physical distancing and personal hygiene," he added.
