The desire of a 73-year-old grandmother to obtain a driving licence came true when she finally passed a driving test organised by the Road Transport Department (RTD) today.

Fatimah Hassan, 73, had taken a driving test on Oct 4 but failed and was determined to retake the test.

"I am so grateful to Allah, words cannot describe my feelings of happiness. It was as if a heavy burden is lifted from my shoulders when RTD announced that I have passed the test.

"Now that I have obtained the licence, I feel more confident and do not fear driving in front of authorities anymore," she told Bernama at her residence here today.

Fatimah, who was the first candidate for the driving retake test said her all children had supported her efforts in sitting for the test.

She also thanked RTD and her instructor, Roslan Mansur, 60, who had patiently taught her until she succeeded in getting a driving licence.
