Selangor police have rescued a business couple's five-year-old son who was kidnapped by a gang at a house in Port Klang on Jan 22, and held captive in Negeri Sembilan.

A police team found the victim at an apartment in Port Dickson at 12.05am today, and detained five men to facilitate investigations. About two hours later, an accomplice was nabbed at a house in Taman Subang Jaya, Subang Jaya.

Selangor CID chief, Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said a gang of kidnappers had earlier demanded about RM850,000 in ransom from the victim's family to secure the boy's release but the money was not paid.

He said the victim, who appeared to have been drugged at the time of his rescue by the police, was currently undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit, paediatrics division, of the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban.

"The boy's condition has been described as stable," he told reporters here today.

Mohd Adnan said initial investigations revealed the suspects, who could have been known to the victim's family, had contacted them and demanded a ransom of nearly RM850,000.

They had also threatened to injure the child if the ransom demand was not met.

"On Wednesday, the family received an SMS (short messaging service) via the victim's mother's mobile phone which was stolen during the kidnapping, demanding for ransom to be paid in USD100,000 (RM365,000), AUD100,000 (RM282,000) and RM200,000.

"However, the ransom money was not handed over to the kidnappers," he said, adding that the suspects were remanded until next Friday.

On Jan 22, two men broke into a house in Port Klang and abducted the victim about 2.10am, while he was asleep with his mother and sister.
