The air quality nationwide has improved with 47 areas registering an Air Pullutant Index (API) at good level as of 9am compared to 45 areas last night.

Among these areas were Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, which registered an API reading of 48 and 47 respectively, Pasir Gudang, Johor (46), Banting, Selangor (44) and Putrajaya (42).

According to the Department of Environment (DOE)'s portal, only three areas registered moderate API level, namely Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani (53), Port Klang (52) and Seberang Jaya 2, Perai (51).

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.
