The government will be giving cash assistance to 30,000 school bus drivers on August 24, said Finance Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

He explained that cash assistance to schoolbus drivers is among the three main aims of the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (PRIHATIN).

Commenting on the Cost of Living Aid (BSH), Tengku Zafrul informed that phase three has started on July 24.

"The allocation involved almost RM3.0 billion and benefits almost 4.28 million BSH recipients covering 3.75 million households and 0.53 million bachelors (40-59 years old).

"The BSH to be received also considers 3.8 million children of BSH recipients aged 18 and under.

"As of 31st July 2020, phase three of BSH for a total of 4.13 million recipients has been successfully credited into bank accounts involving payment of RM 2.7 billion," he said when presenting the 15th LAKSANA report on Tuesday.

Tengku Zafrul explained that BSH recipients who have been approved but are not able to credit (cash assistance) into bank accounts may visit any branch of Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) to claim it via cash.

He also informed that the BSH and BPN cash distribution process for more than 50,000 rural Sabah and Sarawak recipients involving 30 locations in Sarawak and 9 locations in Sabah was completed on 31 July 2020.
