A weak 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck Ranau, Sabah at 7.49 pm today.

The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was at 6 degrees north and 116.6 degrees east, 11 kilometres northwest of Ranau.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department is currently monitoring and will provide updates on the situation.

On June 5, a moderate 5.9 magnitude quake struck Ranau killing 18 people.
