The #2kerja issue has been blown out of proportion and strayed from its original context.

Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said the headline adopted by several media need to be changed to make it coherent with his speech at a function in Johor Bahru, recently.

“I stressed that existing occupation can be enhanced with small-scale online businesses. That is the original story. Now, it has been blown out of proportion,” said Ahmad when contacted by Astro AWANI here today.

Ahmad at the event said his ministry encouraged those in the low-income groups to work two jobs to earn higher income to sustain the rising cost of living.

All government agencies dealing with micro entrepreneurs, small and average ventures should give emphasis and focus on online businesses.

Ahmad explain that online-businesses, e-commerce is the future trading trend.

He also said Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) has also allocated the grant to aid entrepreneurs in the country.

The #2kerja received mixed reactions including from the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs). Its president, Datuk Azih Muda said productivity among public servants who have two jobs is worrying as it can affect productivity and performance.

Earlier, Ahmad on his Twitter said he also holds three jobs on his curriculum vitae -- as Pontian Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister and UMNO Information chief.

“If one has an existing day job, he or she can focus on the online business at night or the weekends as long as it doesn’t affect the standard, and at the same time make more money,” he said on Twitter.
