The police detained 23 foreigners during an integrated 'Ops Cantas Khas' here last night for immigration offences.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 35, comprised six from Somalia, Indonesia (10), Turkey (four) and one each from Libya, Iraq and Sudan.

Sentul police chief ACP Zakaria Pagan told reporters here today, they were picked up at a roadblock near the Setapak Golf Range in Jalan Genting Klang.

He said in the five-hour operation beginning 11pm, seven local men were also arrested on drug-related offences.

He said the operation was jointly carried out with the national registration and immigration departments.

On traffic offences, he said 105 summonses were issued to motorcyclists for traffic offences while nine motorcycles which did not display road tax were seized.
