1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) debts will be reduced gradually in the next five months.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said, the matter had already been disclosed to UMNO members.

“In the next five months, 1MDB debts will be reduced to levels far lower than today,” he said in his speech during the Pasir Gudang UMNO delegates’ meeting here today.

According to Najib, the 1MDB debt issue had been sensationalised on social media even though the state investment company has not registered any losses.

“The 1MDB issue has suddenly become a hot topic and this has angered me as it has been constantly been targeted.

“So many things have been said on social media while investigations are still ongoing. This is unfair,” Najib said.

According to the premier, 1MDB had not registered any losses and its debts would be addressed by deploying its assets.

He added, apart from the Auditor-General’s interim report, the final report on 1MDB will be released soon before being handed over to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
