Lembaga Tabung Haji (LTH) chairman Datuk Seri Azeez Rahim said he has instructed the management of Tabung Haji to issue a statement regarding a claim of the purchasement of a 1MDB land, which was spread of social media since last night.

When contacted by Astro AWANI, he said he is leaving for the management to answer the claim.

“I have instructed the Tabung Haji management to issue a statement shortly. They will answer so, let them settle it,” he said when asked to elaborate on the issue.

Yesterday, Azeez on his Twitter account denied the claim.

He also said Tabung Haji will be issuing a statement on the matter soonest possible.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin replied to his tweet, commending Azeez on the fast action taken.

Azeez then replied again.

He said if the explanation was not immediate, it will open a space for people to spin the claim.

It is understood that the management of Tabung Haji is in the midst of a meeting.

Recently, The Benchmark blog as well as other blogs published a document, claiming that Tabung Haji has purchased two plots of land at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) for the price of RM772 million, using the money deposited by contributors and not the government’s money.

The blog claimed hat an ‘insider’ from Tabung Haji confirmed the fast track agreement was made after getting the approval of a minister within two weeks dan payment needs to be paid in full to 1MDB.

The document revealed that Tabung Haji paid RM2,680 per square foot (RM194 million) for the first plot of land and for the second plot of land. It is said that Tabung Haji agreed to pay RM3,900 (RM578 million) in cash.
