Eleven illegal immigrants suspected of having forged identity cards were among 65 detained by the Immigration Department in Selangor in an operation codenamed ''Ops Ikrar '' carried out in Klang, on Friday.

Its director Omran Omar said the operation, which was carried out at a coffee processing and packaging plant also included personnel from the National Registration Department.

In the two-hour operation which began at 6.45 pm, 150 foreign workers were inspected and 65 of them were detained for several offences including overstaying, not having valid travel documents, as well as misusing their social visit passes.

Meanwhile, in Lahad Datu, Sabah, the police arrested 38 illegal immigrants from the Philippines and Indonesia in an integrated operation carried out in Kampung Betik and Kampung Jawa, early Saturday.

Lahad Datu district police chief ACP Hamzah Ahmad said in the 3am operation, 57 people were examined, and 38 of them aged between one and 60 were detained for not having valid identification documents.
