The representatives of 100 non-governmental organisations (NGO) in Penang today signed and read out the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) as their commitment to fight corruption and abuse of power.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said the initiative was the first among NGOs as the IBR had only been signed by the government departments or agencies and private sector.

"The MACC is honoured by the commitment and concern shown by the Penang NGOs to ensure that the country is free from corruption and abuse of power," he told reporters after the IBR signing ceremony here today.
