Six Malaysians in a motorcycle convoy will scorch the roads to span more than 15,000km to 10 ASEAN countries to capture the essence of friendship and solidarity.

ASEAN Solidarity Expedition coordinator Datuk Ahirudin Attan, better known as RockyBru said the ride would kick off on Sept 22 and head to ASEAN capital cities and surrounding areas in 55 days.

“We are producing a documentary of our 15,000km expedition and it will be aired at the GoAsean channel during the ASEAN Summit in November,” he told reporters after meeting Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi here today.

GoAsean Channel, a 24-hour channel broadcast content exclusive to ASEAN, includes promoting the region as a travel destination.

The channel, which went live on Astro (Channel 737) in June, will source and broadcast content from all 10 ASEAN member nations, promoting the uniqueness that each has to offer to a worldwide audience.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is the patron for the ASEAN Solidarity Expedition while Ahmad Zahid is adviser.

Led by Nor Azlan Yusof, who will be one of the riders, the expedition will head for Singapore as its first destination, followed by the Philippines, Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak, Sulawesi in Indonesia and back to Kuala Lumpur.

Later, the expedition will head for the other ASEAN countries.

Ahirudin said during the expedition, the group would collaborate with the ASEAN Secretariat for Corporate Social Responsibility programme.

“We will contact the secretariat at every capital city to get involved in their programme.

“We hope next year, Laos when assuming the ASEAN chairmanship can initiate something similar.”

Malaysia holds the ASEAN chairmanship for 2015.
