AS we head towards a new year and plan our resolutions it can be a great time to switch up your workout routine and find some extra motivation. To give you some ideas, we explore one of the fitness trends that will be impacting fitness regimes in 2017: dance.

If you're looking for a way to work out next year that feels more like fun and less like exercise then next year's dance craze could be for you. Although the health benefits of dance are well known a host of new, high-energy classes are set to reinvigorate both the fitness trend and fitness fans -- think less ballet and barre and more booty-shaking and all-night raving.

Celebrity trainer Anna Kaiser, who works with high-profile celebrities such as Shakira, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kelly Ripa, has already been incorporating strength training with dance-style cardio routines for an intense but fun workout which sees devotees flocking to her New York AKT in Motion studios. Last week's announcement of an upcoming collaboration with Target on an athleisure collection inspired by the dance workouts only helps to further confirm that Kaiser's popularity, and dance classes in general, are set to rise even further next year.

San Francisco's The COMPANY studio also offers dance-cardio classes which "merge music with cardio-inspired choreography,"while YouTube sensation The Fitness Marshall is also helping to push the trend with his hip-hop cardio dance workouts. ((305)) Fitness classes are taking the dance craze even further with not only an instructor but also a DJ, nightclub-style lighting and plenty of fun freestyle dance moves. Described as a "night out partying disguised as a workout," after first opening in New York classes proved so popular that ((305)) Fitness then expanded to Boston and Washington DC, so watch out for more dance workouts coming to a class near you next year.
