On January 11, 2015, Indonesian diver had successfully found the black box flight recorder of AirAsia’s flight QZ8501 which crashed in the Java Sea on December 28, 2014.

Two days later, on January 13, 2015, they once again managed to retrieve the second part of the black box which is the cockpit voice recorder from beneath the wreckage of the plane.
A black box has two parts which are the flight data recorder (FDR) and the cockpit voice recorder (CVR). The FDR and the CVR are always retrieved in cases of aircraft accident.
